Imagine Synchro

Beginning in the summer of 2014, Imagine SWIMMING was thrilled to introduce Synchronized Swimming to its roster of aquatic pursuits. Synchro has a proud Olympic tradition dating back to 1984. Now Imagine is committed to fostering the development of this great sport in New York City. 


Imagine Synchro is led by a world class, international ensemble of coaches: Paola Tirados, Barbara Wijering, and Ida Noelle Calumpang. Paola was a three-time Spanish Olympian and an Olympic silver medalist at the 2008 Games in Beijing. Barbara has competed at the World Masters Championships for her native Netherlands, and Ida was one of the founding members of the first Philippine Synchronized Swimming National Team. 


SYNCHRONIZED SWIMMING is a sport that combines physical effort with agility and plasticity. It is a hybrid form of swimming, dance and gymnastics, consisting of swimmers (either solos, duets, teams or combos) performing a synchronized routine of elaborate moves and spectacular figures in the water, accompanied by music.

Synchronized swimming has arrived to Imagine Swimming, and we are so excited to invite any girl or boy who loves the water, music and dance to come and join our team. Your age doesn't matter, if you know how to swim freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke, you are ready to start synchro.

Our Imagine Synchro Team is practicing during the week, and preparing the East Zone Meets, where the swimmers will swim their best routines and choreographies. Art and sport together. Speed swimming, flexibility, acrobatics, dance and synchro basics are present in our practices. So, if you enjoy in the water, but you need more challenges, come to practice synchro with us, we are waiting you!!!

We want children enjoying a new sport in Manhattan and learning from its values. We are here to learn and improve, to lear about teamwork, and above all, to enjoy the sport!!!

Imagine Synchro practices three days a week at our St. Barts pool in midtown, and welcomes experienced swimmers ages 8 and older. 


Team Practice Schedule

Attending a conditioning workout is required in addition to the three synchro practices.
