Daria Vasilchenko

Competitive & Novice Team Coach

Born and raised in Staten Island, Daria was immersed in the art of dance for the first seven years of her life. Growing up, she has always had a love for the water, as swimming came naturally, but she never knew where it would take her. Her parents used to call her a mermaid, as once immersed, she never wanted to leave the pool or ocean! At 12-years-old, her mom introduced her to Synchronized Swimming (now formally, Artistic Swimming) and she joined Gotham Synchro for her first year in the sport. Soon after, she discovered Imagine Synchro and Coach Paola. From her first tryout, she knew it was the place for her! Over six years as a competitor with Imagine Synchro, Daria went to multiple national competitions, participated in national team training camps, and was even invited to the Junior National Team. Indeed, it's fair to say that Daria was Imagine Synchro's first top athlete to make her mark at the national level.

Once Daria moved on to college at Hunter, she decided to continue synchro as a recreational sport -- while staying with Imagine as a coach. Being on deck introduced her to a new side of the sport and instilled an even deeper love for Artistic Swimming. Daria is currently studying biology in pursuit of becoming a doctor.
